ABOUT

Journalism across borders.

Wadud Salangi is a multilingual journalist based in Berlin. His reporting focuses on Afghanistan, human rights, migration, politics, conflict and peace.

He has worked with Deutsche Welle and TOLOnews and has contributed to international publications including The Washington Post and The New Humanitarian.

Wadud holds a degree in Journalism and Communication from Kabul University and has received international journalism training.

His work combines field reporting, interviews, multimedia journalism and human-rights reporting.

I bring a professional background that includes:

Currently working as a Journalist with Deutsche Welle (DW) in Berlin and the German Institute for Foreign Relations (ifa) under the German Federal Foreign Office.
Former journalist at TOLOnews in Kabul, Afghanistan, and contributor to CNN.

Professional experience

Continuing to report on Afghanistan with Deutsche Welle following the fall of Afghanistan in 2021.
Journalism Fellow at Columbia University in 2024.

International journalism

Collaborating with The Washington Post, The New Humanitarian and Reporters Without Borders (RSF), including work supporting journalists facing crises.

Speaking & public engagement

Guest speaker at Harvard University's Harvard Crimson Summit in 2024 and 2025.
